Replace pump door cover in accordance with “Replacement of Pump
Head Door Cover” on page 8-9.
11.
Perform the Operational Checkout procedures in Chapter 10,
“Operational Checkout”.
Replacement of Battery
1.
Turn off and unplug the pump.
2.
Remove the 4 screws (Figure 11-4 , item 26) on the battery compartment
cover (Figure 11-4 , item 3).
3.
Slide the battery out of the rear housing.
Note: Lead batteries must be recycled or disposed of properly. Contact Federal or
State environmental agencies for information on recycling and disposal
options.
4.
Remove the four screws (Figure 11-4 , item 26) securing the battery
compartment (Figure 11-4 , item 8) to the cover (Figure 11-4 , item 3).
5.
Hold the cover and the battery compartment and turn them over, while
taking care not to drop them.
6.
Remove the cover.
7.
Disconnect the two female connectors from the battery terminals.
8.
Reassemble the battery into the pump in reverse order. Tightening torque
for the four screws is 9 kgf-cm (7.8 in-lb).
CAUTION
Be sure to match the polarities of the female connectors.
CAUTION
Red wires (+) must be connected to red marked (+) battery terminal. See the
battery label on the underside of the battery cover. The battery must be placed
with its connectors up. (See Figure 11-4 ). The wires must be routed in the battery
compartment (Figure 11-4 , item 8) so that the red (+) battery terminal is
positioned next to the bushing (item 14) for the battery harness (item 18).
CAUTION
Be sure to place the battery compartment seal (Figure 11-4 , item 14) appropriately
in the groove of the compartment.
CAUTION
Be sure to place the battery harness behind the printed circuit board and power
transformer bracket at the left side before placing the battery compartment
assembly into the front housing.
CAUTION
Be careful not to pinch wires between the front housing and battery compartment
cover.
CAUTION
Be sure to place the battery cover seal (Figure 11-4 , item 13) appropriately in the
groove located on the rear housing.
