6 ALIGNMENT
6.1 Alignment Of An FM Audio Subcarrier
•
Connect a FM subcarrier (5.5 MHz) signal to the AUDIO SUBC input.
•
Connect a spectrum analyzer to the RF output of the P
ULSAR
.
•
Check the selected S/V ratio in the LEVEL menu and on the spectrum analyzer.
•
Select in the MODE menu the item called ASub-C GAIN. Pressing the UP or DOWN arrow gives
the following message:
! THIS IS AN ALIGNMENT !
<PRESS ENTER OR ESCAPE>
Pressing ENTER will start the alignment.

You can change the ASub-C GAIN by pressing the DOWN arrow until the ratio on the spectrumana-
lyzer is the same as in the LEVEL menu.
•
Confirm by pressing ENTER.
•
Once this alignment is done you can change the S/V ratio without the need to do the alignment
again.
6.2 Alignment Of A NICAM Audio Subcarrier
•
Connect a NICAM subcarrier (5.85 MHz) signal to the AUDIO SUBC input.
•
Connect a spectrum analyzer to the RF output of the P
ULSAR
.
•
Check the selected S/V ratio in the
LEVEL
menu is that of the internal soundcarrier.
•
On the spectrum analyzer one will see that the NICAM and the baseband carrier are aligned.
•
Changing ASub-C GAIN will bring the NICAM carrier to its ratio w.r.t. the mono carrier, that is 20
dB lower than the vision carrier or 10 dB lower then the internal sound carrier.
•
After this matching is done, one can change the S/V ratio in the
LEVEL
menu with the
UP
or
DOWN
arrow. If one tunes the S/V ratio, both level of the NICAM carrier and the internal carrier will
change.
