1 DESCRIPTION
In a P
ULSAR
an additional ouput can be installed to have the reference carrier available at the rear
panel.
The signal at the output will be the 10MHz internal reference carrier. Only in case the option refer-
ence carrier input has been installed the output will provide the externally connected reference car-
rier. In case no external reference carrier is connected or the level is too low the internal 10 MHz
reference carrier will be available. The external reference carrier can be a 6, 7, 8 or 10 MHz carrier
depending on the settings of the Reference Carrier Input. These settings can be modified in the
MODE menu. For more information refer to the description of the Reference Carrier Input option.
Remark: this option does not involve any change in the P
ULSAR
software.

3 INSTALLATION
3.1 Opening The Pulsar
•
Unplug the power cord to turn off the P
ULSAR
.
•
Unscrew the nine screws (Torx 10) holding the top cover.
•
Pull the top cover backwards and remove it.
•
Loosen the nine screws (Torx 10) holding the bottom cover.
•
Remove the bottom cover.
3.2 Installing The Option
•
Remove the black bushing dome on the position IFCW at the rearpanel of the P
ULSAR
.
•
Replace the label IFCW by the label REF OUT
•
Mount the cable, included in the kit, between the rear plate (position REF OUT) and J31 on the
mainboard (see layout).
3.3 Closing The Pulsar
•
Put the bottom cover back onto the chassis.
•
Tighten the nine screws (Torx 10) while pressing the bottom cover down.
•
Turn the P
ULSAR
upright.
•
Put the top cover onto the chassis.
•
Tighten the nine screws (Torx 10) while pressing the top cover down.
•
Replug the power cord to turn on the P
ULSAR
