Chapter 1: System Platform installation
System Platform installation
The Avaya Aura
™
System Platform installation has many parts to it. It requires
• installing the server(s) hardware
• connecting the server to the customer's network
• connecting two servers if using the high availability failover option
• installing the System Platform software on the server
• installing the solution template
• configure the Secure Access Link (SAL) gateway included in System Platform for remote
support and alarming
Server installation and connectivity
System Platform is installed on either an Avaya S8510 Server or an Avaya S8800 Server.
These servers arrive at the customer's site with all the appropriate components and memory.
Nothing needs to be added to the servers on site.
The server or servers require CAT5 Ethernet cables to connect to the customer's network and
to each other for System Platform High Availability Failover. Both the servers must be
connected with a gigabit-crossover cable on the ports identified as eth2 on operating system
for High Availability Failover.
System Platform software
You can install System Platform using two different methods:
• A laptop connected to the Services port on the server (this port is identified as eth1 in the
server).
• A video monitor, keyboard, and mouse connected to the appropriate ports on the server.
Access the System Platform installer through either a DVD drive or a USB flash drive.
Depending on the method chosen from which to install System Platform, you must either burn
the ISO image to a blank DVD or copy the ISO images to a USB flash. In either installation
scenario, Avaya recommends that you verify that the ISO image is not corrupted before starting
the System Platform installation.
