Cab Ventilation
Do not park the vehicle and let the engine
run or idle for more than 10 minutes with the
ventilation system control switch in the OFF
position. Even with the ventilation system on,
running the engine while parked or stopped for
long periods of time is not recommended. Entry
of carbon monoxide into the cab is possible
with a damaged, corroded or poorly repaired
exhaust system or cab.
Do not run the engine in confined areas, such
as garages or next to a building, any more
than necessary. The area must be properly
ventilated. When the vehicle must be stopped
with the engine running for more than a few
minutes:
• Adjust the heating or cooling system to
force outside air into the cab. Do this by
setting the fan to medium or high speed and
setting the controls in any position except
for recirculation of air inside of the cab.
• Keep the exhaust pipe area clear to help
reduce the buildup of exhaust gas under
the vehicle.

engine pre-trip inspection and daily
maintenance checks found in “
Pre-Trip
