NOTICE
The Interaxle Differential Lock must
never, under any circumstances, be
engaged when in a wheel-spin situation.
Engage the lock ahead of the slippery
area. If already slipping, stop the wheels,
engage the lock and then continue. If the
Interaxle Differential Lock is engaged
when the wheels are spinning, the
interaxle differential will be damaged and
the drive axle could fail.
Engagement and Disengagement
Engage the Axle Differential Lock or the
Interaxle Differential Lock in the following
manner:
1. Release the accelerator and wait for the
drive wheels to stop spinning.
2. Use the switch to engage the Axle
Differential Lock (Figure (137) or the
Interaxle Differential Lock (Figure 138).
3. Slowly depress the accelerator pedal.

The differential locks can be disengaged at
any speed as long as no wheels are slipping or
spinning.
When disengaging the differential locks, the
couplings may be under tension. Disengage
the locks by returning the switch to the OFF
position and briefly let up on the accelerator to
relieve the tension on the couplings.
The indicator lamps for the differential locks
and interaxle locks are located on the switch.
