EXCESSIVE HEAT
Excessive heat can be caused by a pressure limiter adjusted too low. If a pressure limiter is
adjusted too low, a part of the oil will be released by the pressure limiter at each cycle. In this case,
the machine will be very slow.
TOO HIGH AN OIL PRESSURE
Two causes of overpressure:
(a) the pressure limiter does not work, producing an extreme surge and immediate breakdown, or
(b) the adjustment of the pressure limiter is too high, causing repeated peaks of pressure.
Damage to the pump is very similar in the two cases.
Pinching of the O ring can occur if the latter has not been placed correctly in its groove.
If the O ring has been assembled incorrectly, the housing surface will have a crushed zone.
BREAKDOWNS
IF A PUMP IS NOISY (CAVITATION):
- oil level too low
- the pump takes in air by the shaft seal
- too thick an oil
- air intake
- restriction in the suction hose
- pump worn
- NB -
Use a pressure gauge to isolate the problem.
Solutions:
◘ The oil level is low, fill to the correct level (both arm cylinder and mast cylinder retracted).
◘ The pump takes in air by the shaft seal, replace the seal.
◘ The oil is too thick, replace the latter by the right oil. Please refer to the "Lubrication" section.
◘ There is a restriction in the suction hose, replace this.
◘ There is air in the system, let it settle and check the level again, control tightening of the suction
hose.
◘ The parts of the pump are worn or broken, replace pump.
IF A PUMP TAKES TOO LONG TO RESPOND OR DOES NOT RESPOND:
- oil level low
- pressure limiter adjusted too low
- either worn or damaged pump
Solutions:
◘ Pressure is insufficient, use a pressure gauge to adjust pressure.
◘ The pump is worn or damaged, replace it.
