8.4 Controller Jumper Settings
The XDS controller has a number of configuration jumpers. These jumpers are normally factory set
but there may be situations when the jumper settings have to be changed. Specifically, under the
following circumstances:
1. Adding one or more 5 KW power modules to an existing 5 KW or 10 KW unit.
2. Changing the operation of the controller from internal Volt or Current programming to Analog
Input Volt or Current programming or for parallel mode. See also chapter 5.
To change jumper settings, the unit has to be powered down and completely disconnected from AC
mains to ensure safety. This change should only be made by qualified personnel experienced with
working on high power electronic test equipment.
The warranty seals on the power supply have to be broken to remove the top cover. Contact Argantix
customer service through email at
to obtain permissions to do so to avoid
voiding the product warranty.
The following table shows the correct jumper configurations. Configurations not shown should be
avoided as they may render the unit inoperative. The controller board has a total of 15 jumpers W1
through W15 that determine the mode of operation. Table 8-7 through Table 8-8 shows all valid
jumper setting combinations. A "1" indicates the jumper is installed. A "0" indicates the jumper is out.
To change jumper settings, the top cover has to be removed to gain access. Contact Argantix prior
to doing so to ensure the warranty is not voided.
The jumper locations on the back of the controller board are shown in Figure 8-2. The view is
projected from the front, looking down on the back of the 5005-720-1 controller assembly on the front
panel. Note that W15 must be installed for parallel systems of 35KW or higher.
