Total Loss (Incl Loss at OTDR)
– displays the
total loss for the fiber under test in dB,
including the Loss at OTDR Connection
(initial loss at the OTDR bulkhead
connection) and all events that meet or exceed
the Event Loss (dB) threshold as set on the
Setup Parameters screen (see Figure 4-5 on
page 4-8).
Total Loss Threshold Indicator
Displays the current value set for the Total Loss Threshold.
Setting the Pass/Fail Threshold
To set the Pass/Fail threshold:
1.
Press
Total Loss Threshold
(
F2
). The Total Loss
Threshold field appears.
2.
Use the
Left
or
Right Arrow key
to scroll to the
desired threshold setting. This setting ranges from
0.1 dB to 5.0 dB in 0.1 dB increments.
3.
When the desired threshold setting is displayed in
the Threshold field, press the
Set key
. The field
closes and the Total Loss Threshold indicator
displays the new threshold setting.
Event Table
In fiber analysis an “event” is considered to be a distinct
deviation from normal fiber attenuation that may be
introduced by a lossy connection (microbend, connector, or
splice), a reflective connection (connector or fiber break),
macrobend, or the end of the fiber. Only events that meet one
or more of the set threshold criteria will be reported in the
