6. Designate the types of transceivers to be used in ports 25 to 37 with
the PLATFORM PORTMODE INTERFACE command, on both the
master switch and provisioned member switch. Allied Telesis
recommends performing this task at this time even if you are not using
these ports as the stack trunk.
7. Designate the ports of the stack trunk on both the master switch and
provisioned member switch, with the STACKPORT command in the
port Interface mode.
8. Save your changes with the WRITE command in the Privilege Exec
mode.
9. Reboot the switch with the REBOOT command.
10. Start a new local management session.
11. Verify the changes with the SHOW STACK and SHOW RUNNING-
CONFIG command.
Configuring the
Master Switch
To configure the master switch for stacking, perform the procedure in
Table 16.

Power on the master switch and wait two minutes for it to initialize the management
software. Refer to “Powering On a Switch” on page 124.

Start a local management session on the switch. Refer to “Starting a Local
Management Session” on page 127.

Move to the Privileged Exec mode with the ENABLE command.

Verify that the switch hardware is operating correctly by entering the SHOW SYSTEM
ENVIRONMENT command. The status of all components should be Ok.
