Regular Checks
The pulsator must be checked regularly for proper operation. Pulsator filters if present should be
kept clean.
If a pulsator malfunctions or pulls an excessive amount of milk or dirt into it. Do not continue to use
the unit. A qualified technician must service the pulsator before use. After service is performed, the
qualified technician must verify it
’
s performance by testing the unit with a vacuum testing recorder.
-
Visually check the milk line shut
-
off diaphragm for foreign materials cuts or tears. Replace
or clean if needed.
-
Visually check that the milk sensor is clean and free from foreign materials.
Proper cleaning of the pipeline milking system is essential to remove the residual milk and bacteria
left in the pipe line and equipment after milking. Improper cleaning can leave milk components on
the sensing probes causing improper sensing. Normally, dirty sensing probes will desensitize the
sensing probes and the meter will read low milk weights.
Wash milk contact surfaces of milk lines and milking units after every milking, as follows:
1.
Attach the teat cups to the wash jetters or place the milker unit in the wash vat.
2.
Place each detacher into the wash mode (if connected to the Herd Tracker, all detachers will
enter into the wash mode globally, when one unit is programmed in wash mode). The
detacher will show
”
WASH
”
in the display when enabled into the wash mode.
3.
Start the wash routine ( refer to your wash instructions for details).
4.
Just before the next milking, sanitize the milk contact surfaces according to your normal
washer instructions.
To end the wash mode and start the next milking, take the detachers out of the wash mode( if
connected to a Herd Tracker, all detachers will revert out of the wash mode globally, when one unit
is taken out of the wash mode).
Weekly
Check pulsator filter and clean if dirty. Filters must be kept clean to assure proper pulsator
performance. See page 34 and beyond.
Maintenance
Control Box Cleaning
Use a mild detergent and soft cloth to clean the outside of the
control box.
*Never directly hose the control boxes with water.
Flow Cell
The flow cell is made to be cleaned in place with the rest of the
pipeline equipment. Proper chemical solutions should be used to
be sure no milk fat or minerals build up.
Pulsator
Be sure the pulsator is in good working condition.
