Calibrate Temperature Milk Temperature Offset
Milk Temperature Offset allows the operator to calibrate the EXPRESSO Control
’
s temperature
reading. There are two reasons or for adjusting the temperature calibration 1. To adjust all the
EXPRESSO controls to record the same temperature, be sure all the flow cells in the barn are the
same temperature. (For example if the ambient temperature in the parlor is stable from one end to
the other, an hour or two after washing all the flow cells should be at the same temperature. If you
are reasonably sure all the flow cells are at the same temperature as the ambient temperature is in
the parlor. With an accurate thermometer, determine what the ambient/flow cell temperature is, enter
into the EXPRESSO set
-
up mode, go to calibrate temperature and adjust all the EXPRESSO
Controls to match the ambient/flow cell temperature. This adjustment takes out any variation seen
from one thermostat to the next. The thermostat tolerance is +1
-
1 degrees you now will make all the
EXPRESSO
’
s to read the same. 2. To adjust the temperature calibration to compensate for cooling
effects of the milk hose, claw air bleeds and ambient temperature:
Look at the milk temperature history of all in the EXPRESSO Controls by entering into set
-
up and
scrolling through the review data screens. Record several of the milk temperatures (for example: a
EXPRESSO Control may have several milking histories with temperatures at 99, 100, 98, 100.
Normally, milk temperature in the cow is 101
-
105 degrees F. If the milk temperature history in the
EXPRESSO controls average a degree or two low compared to normal cow milk temperature step
one and adjust the EXPRESSO controls a degree or two above ambient/flow cell temperature. This
will tell the EXPRESSO controls to read a degree or two higher to compensate for the milk cooling
effects.
Wash Temperature Threshold
At this temperature threshold , after the wash water temperature exceeds this level, the Expresso
starts tracking and displays the time in seconds, the time in which the wash temperature has
exceeded the threshold.
Graph Duration
Selected in Minutes. This setting determines the length of time that is shown on the horizontal axis
of the graph. Lowering the time will enhance the clarity of the graph.
