Warning:
Only put your insulin pump into
RUN
if it is fully and correctly
equipped (including cartridge, adapter and infusion set) and programmed
with your personal settings
approved by your doctor and/or your
health care team.
The operating status of your insulin pump may be either
STOP
or
RUN
.
In
RUN
the display shows the time, the current basal rate and basal rate profile (A or
B). Your insulin pump continuously delivers insulin.
In
STOP
, the
STOP
symbol, the time and -S-- appears in the display. Your insulin
pump
DOES NOT
deliver insulin.
The various Accu-Chek D-TRONplus insulin pump operations can only be performed
if the insulin pump is in the correct operating status.
Caution:
In order to begin insulin delivery, there must be a cartridge in
your insulin pump, the adapter with connected infusion set must be in-
serted and the infusion set must be primed. If your insulin pump is in
RUN
when the cartridge compartment is empty or if the piston rod is not
advanced to the cartridge plunger, an “Alert A4: Cartridge/Adapter Alert”
occurs.
5. Inspect the site at least once or twice each day for irritation
or infection. If you see redness or swelling, change the infu-
sion set and the infusion site immediately.
If there is an infection, change the infusion set immediately
and contact your health care team. Signs of infection may
include, but are not limited to pain, lumps, redness, heat or
seepage.
You should change your infusion site regularly according to
the instructions for use of the infusion set you are using and
your health care team’s recommendations.
6. Your insulin pump is now ready for operation.
Put your insulin pump into
RUN
(press
d
and
f
).
7. After inserting a new soft cannula-type infusion set, you must
bolus to fill the air space in the cannula according to the in-
struction for use of the infusion set you are using. Failure to
do so could result in missed insulin.
Please refer to section 5.2 “Program a bolus” for further infor-
mation.
