3.1.1 Insert the PowerPack
If there is currently no PowerPack in your Accu-Chek D-TRONplus insulin pump:
1. Remove the PowerPack from the packaging by pushing it
through the cardboard base. A special perforation in the card-
board makes it easier for you to remove the PowerPack from
the packaging.
2. Make sure the opening of the PowerPack compartment and
the seal ring are clean. Insert the PowerPack into the Power-
Pack compartment of your insulin pump. If the PowerPack
does not engage into position, rotate it anticlockwise until it
engages.
3. The PowerPack compartment has a bayonet lock. This means
that instead of being screwed in, the PowerPack must be
pressed in slightly. Carefully rotate the slot of the PowerPack
clockwise to the correct position using only the battery tool
(approx. 1/8 rotation). Do not over-tighten. The PowerPack is
correctly inserted when the position of the slot is parallel to
the cartridge compartment.
Caution:
If you rotate the PowerPack too far, you
might damage the bayonet lock. The PowerPack is
correctly inserted when the slot is parallel to the
cartridge compartment.
3.1 Insert and change the PowerPack
Caution:
To prevent water and any dirty particles from entering the pump
casing, change the PowerPack only in a dry and clean environment and
make sure that the seal ring is not worn out or missing and that the
PowerPack is properly inserted. Tighten or loosen the PowerPack cover
with the battery tool supplied with your Accu-Chek D-TRONplus insulin
pump (use of coins, knives, screwdrivers or other sharp objects may harm
your insulin pump). Do not over-tighten as this may cause damage to the
PowerPack cover and to the pump casing. The PowerPack cover is correct-
ly inserted and tightened when the PowerPack cover is slightly recessed.
Caution:
After inserting a new PowerPack, always ensure that the time
and date are correct.
Incorrect programming of your insulin pump
may cause inappropriate insulin delivery. Your insulin pump must be pro-
grammed with your personal settings prior to starting insulin pump
therapy. Do not operate your insulin pump without knowing your personal
settings. If you are not sure about your personal settings or you are less
experienced, have your doctor and/or your health care team check your
personal settings. Work with your doctor and/or your health care team to
determine the timing, amount and type of bolus you need to deliver. Make
sure you know your personal insulin/carbohydrate ratio and your correc-
tion bolus ratio.
The service life of the PowerPack is affected by usage of your Accu-Chek D-TRONplus
insulin pump, delivery rates, temperature and other factors. A PowerPack should last
approximately 6–8 weeks.
