Figure 104: Overview of IGBT cooling fan related items
The components description is given in
Table 60: IGBT cooling fan related items description
Apart from the main IGBT cooling fan, the filter may incorporate a small air blower in the
filter door or at the cubicle top. This fan has an operating life of about 35,000 hours. In
order to replace this fan switch off the power to the cubicle, remove the electrical
connections and subsequently remove the fan physically. Proceed in reverse order for
adding a new fan.
10.5 DC capacitor change
Active filters of V1 range (208 V
≤
Ue
≤
480 V) have a DC link that contains electrolytic DC
capacitors. Active filters of V2 range (480 V < Ue
≤
690 V, CE version, 480 V < Ue
≤
600 V,
cULus version) have a DC link that contains film capacitors. Their service lifetime is 8
years (208 V
≤
Ue
≤
480 V) or 10 years (480 V < Ue
≤
690 V, CE version, 480 V < Ue
≤
600
V, cULus version) depending on filter loading and ambient temperature. Announced
service lifetime assumes that the filter is operating under ABB approved conditions (Cf.
Chapter 12
It is not possible to predict a capacitor failure. Contact your ABB service provider if
capacitor failure is suspected. Replacement kits are available from ABB. Do not use other
than ABB-specified spare parts.
10.6DC capacitor reforming (V1 range only, 208 V
≤
Ue
≤
480 V)
If the filter has been non-operational for more than one year, the DC capacitors must be
reformed (re-aged) before use. Without reforming, the DC capacitors may be damaged
at start-up.
