Maintenance activities
8.3.1
Evacuating of fluids
To evacuate liquids, you can use customary aspirators.
Warning!
In order to achieve optimal cleaning results and to protect the
mechanics of clamping pot against unwanted disturbances of the
locking units and against deposits between them, the manufacturer
recommends all cleanings (blowing, evacuating, etc.) perform in the
clamped condition.
8.3.2
Cleaning of the clamping pots with special function
Always check all special functions (eg, blow-out function, media transfer, damping
pressure monitoring, etc.) before operation.
Blow-out function and media transfer must be operated without a component /
clamping device before operation, in order to remove any dirt.
Caution!
Carry out the cleaning without a component/clamping device only
when the machine door closed. Flowing chips may cause injury.
8.3.3
Spraying the mechanical parts
Spray fine oil (approved agents see 8.4 Cleaning) in the opening of the chuck to
ensure that it disperses and enters the sides of the opening and runs inside the gaps
of the clamping sheets.
Evacuate any excess oil after letting it soak for about two minutes from the opening
of the chuck to prevent it from filling up with oil.
Keep operating the clamping units while spraying them to ensure that the oil spreads
well.
8.3.4
Preservation of the Cooling Lubricant
As the CL bathes the chuck, particulate material contained in the CL may sediment
into the chuck. They may also sediment on the clamping mechanism and on othet
components. For this reason we recommend a regular exchange or regeneration of
the CL, every 6
– 12 months, depending on the degree of contamination.
