WARNING
If the Minigas Mk5 produces an alarm while working in a
confined area, the work area must be evacuated
immediately.
CAUTION
Certain substances may adversely affect the performance
of the explosive gas sensor (pellistor) by reducing its
sensitivity to flammable gases. The poisons or inhibitors
include compounds of bromine, chlorine, fluorine and lead
as well as phosphorous, volatile sulphur compounds and
silicones (eg domestic furniture polish).
If the Minigas Mk5 is exposed to one or more of these
substances, then the explosive channel response must
be checked and recalibrated if necessary.
The procedures and cautions detailed in the CSA and SAA
Approval Addendum on page vi of this manual must be
observed when using the Minigas Mk5 in North America
or Australia.
3.1
INTRODUCTION
The Minigas Mk5 personal multi-gas monitor is intended to be
carried or worn by the user at all times whilst in an environment
with a potentially hazardous atmosphere. However, there are
certain recommended procedures to be followed when entering
any confined space. This section, therefore, details the confined
space entry checks and the normal use of the Minigas Mk5.
Also provided in this section is a general statement on
procedures for storage of the Minigas Mk5, and, for instruments
with the data logging option, brief details of the data transfer
procedure.
