INSTALLING THE EXHAUST PIPE AND
MUFFLER
1. Install:
• Gasket “1”
(to muffler)
• Muffler joint
TIP
Install the muffler gasket with its chamfered end
“a” facing outward.
2. Install:
• Gasket
• Exhaust pipe
• Exhaust pipe nuts
(temporarily tighten)
3. Install:
• Muffler
• Muffler mounting bolts
(temporarily tighten)
4. Tighten:
• Exhaust pipe nuts
TIP
Tighten each nut to specification in the order of
exhaust pipe nut “1”
→
exhaust pipe nut “2”
→
exhaust pipe nut “1”.
5. Tighten:
• Muffler bolts
6. Tighten:
• Muffler joint bolt
TIP
When tightening the muffler joint bolt, make sure
that the projections “a” on the joint contact the
muffler gasket “1”.
Install depth “b”
0.5 mm (0.02 in) or more
