Perform the following:

CAUTION

Be careful not to damage the ribbon cable attached to
the carriage assembly.

Rotate each bushing so that their flat sides are
aligned with the sides of the slot on each side
frame.

CAUTION

Be sure that no portion of carriage is beneath ink
level sensor during carriage removal

Remove the carriage drive shaft from printer
side frames.

NOTE: Expect moderate to heavy resistance when
removing bushings from printer side frames.

Disconnect the encoder wiring harness (J4) from the
printer interface PWB.
