Bearing Cover

−

Installation

1) Remove the protection from the

crosshead pin (3,

Fig. 8

2) Apply clean bearing oil to the running

surfaces of the bearing cover (2) and the

crosshead pin (3).

3) Attach the double-sling chain (94335D)

to the eye bolts (EB1) on the bearing

cover (2).

4) Attach the chain block (CB) and the

manual ratchet (H3) to the double-sling

chain (94335D).

5) Operate the chain block CB) and the

manual ratchet (H3) to move the bearing

cover (2) into the engine.

6) Attach the manual ratchet (H4) to the

double-sling chain (94335D).

7) Operate the manual ratchet (H4) to

apply a light tension.

8) Carefully remove the chain block (CB)

from the double-sling chain (94335D).

9) Operate the manual ratchets (H3, H4) to

align the holes in the bearing cover (2)

with the elastic bolts (1).

10) Lower carefully the bearing cover (2) on

to the crosshead pin (3). Make sure that

the elastic bolts (1) are not caught.

11) Remove the manual ratchets (H3, H4)

and the double-sling chain (94335D).

12) Attach the round nuts to the elastic

bolts (1).

13) Apply tension to the elastic bolts, refer to

9403

14) Remove all tools and equipment from

the work area.
