6. Bearing Shells −
Installation
6.1 New Bearing Shells
1) Use a round bar to tighten equally the
round nuts (2, Fig. 6 ).
2) Measure the distance (X1) between the
ends of the bearing shells and the
bearing cover.
3) Measure the distance (X2) between the
ends of the bearing shells and the
connecting rod.
Note: For new bearing shells, the
dimensions X1and X2 must be
between 0.46 mm and 0.62 mm.
4) Apply tension to the elastic bolts (1),
refer to 9403 − 4 .
5) To lubricate new bearing shells and
prevent dry-running, refer to 3303 − 3
