Installation

Before fitting the exhaust valve into the cylinder cover, the sealing surfaces must be

checked for cleanliness and possible damage.

D

Make sure that the soft iron gasket of 2 mm thickness lies flat in its recess in the

cylinder cover.

1) Fit new O-rings on the valve cage and valve seat and oil these slightly.
2) Fit the complete exhaust valve suspended on the eye bolt (RC), taking care not to

damage the thread of the elastic bolts.

3) Oil the threads of the elastic bolts.
4) Fit nuts (2) and tighten them firmly with a rod till fully seated before mounting the

pre-tensioning jacks (check seating with feeler gauge).

5) Mark position of the nuts (2) on a corner and their position on valve cage (3) with a

felt-tip pen (for later checks).

6) Tighten elastic bolts according to General Application Instructions

.

Note: When refitting expansion piece (6) smear its flange surfaces and

connecting screws with a heat resisting lubricant. The expansion piece has

to be refitted in such a way that protection pipe (7) of the expansion piece

comes to lie in flow direction i.e. on the valve cage side as shown in Fig.2.
