CONAMA IMPORTANT PRECAUTIONS
(CONAMA – National Council for Inviroment)
1- Levels of Fumes Emissions
The operating characteristics of the vehicle are estimated by testing the oil-fuel
specified in the resolution of the CONAMA 10/89 and CNP 01/90 that limits sulphur
content and defines other fuel characteristics that are beyond the standards set by
the abovementioned resolution. It may bring such problems as:
• Premature deterioration of the lubricant;
• Rapid wear of the rings and cylinders;
• Premature deterioration of the exhaust system;
• Sufficient increase of the fume emission;
• Enhanced carbonizaiton of the combustion chambers and injectors;
• Inferior variation of the vehicle performance;
• Fuel consumption variation;
• Difficulty in cold-engine starting and white fumes;
• Less durability of the product;
• Premature corrosion of the fuel system;
Commercial Vehicles
Brazilian environment protecting legislation establishes maximum standarts and
polluting emissions for automotive vehicles. Non-observance of the established
laws by manufacturers of vehicles, non-conformity with the emission standards,
leads to refusal or termination of the licence to use the vehicle or engine
configuration. Therefore, it becomes impossible to sell it in Brazil.
To meet the requirements of the emission legislation, the diesel vehicles require
certification on oil-fuel specified in the resolution CONAMA 10/89 and CNP 01/90
that limits maximum sulphur content and defines other fuel test caracteristics.
2- Emission Control
Free Acceleration Fumes Index
The Volare vehicle conforms to the CONAMA Resolutions effective at the moment
of its production.
The free acceleration fumes indicx is expressed in m-1 (light absorbtion factor),
according to testings of reference fuels specified in the effective CONAMA
resolutions. This index is the reference for checks concerning the vehicle
maintenance state.
General Information
The values given in the chart are valid only for engines/vehicles maintained
according to the manufacturer maintenance program. It is markable that such
values may be influenced especially by the following factors:
