Service Brake
When auxiliary compressed air connections are needed (inflator, brake engine,
horn, cleaning gun and others), connect only to the joint number 24 on the
four-way valve. Otherwise, the vehicle may be immobilized because of lack of
advertence.
Periodically or always, when the vehicle stands inacive for several days,
it is necessary to check the pneumatic circuit sealing.
a) Operate the engine until the pressure regulator disconnects. Pressure on
the manometer should keep within the band of 8,33 bar (8,5 kgf/cm²);
b) Turn off and observe the manometer. The pneumatic circuit sealing
will be considered to be in a good state when a pressure drop does not
surpass the limit of 0.1 bar (0,12 Kgf/cm²) for 10 minutes;
c) To prove out seleang state of the valve and brake cylinders, press the
brake pedal within the half of its total travel and observe the manometer
that should remain unaltered or does not read a pressur drop at least for
3 minutes.
Service Brake Adjustment
a) Posicion the vehicle on a plane site;
b) Lift the wheels of the vehicle until they stay free of the ground;
it is not necessary to perform a periodic brake adjustment.
• Check the state of the brake shoe lining, changing them, if necessary. When
replacing the shoe lining, perform it axle by axle, in order to avoid disbalancing
in the brake system;
• Change the return springs of the skids retention every time when changing
the shoe lining;
• Drain the air reservoirs daily, to avoid water accumulation;
• Periodically, examine all the system items which may undergo possible wear
and regulate eventual gaps between shoe lining and drums in the vehicles with
manual adjust;
• Lubricate the components according to the preventive maintenance plan;
• Check for splits, wear and ovalization of the brake drum;
• Observe the specified the fixation torques;
Air reservoir Drainage
The air reservoir should be drained
daily.
To drain the air reservoirs, pull the
cable (1) connected to the drainage
valves situated under the reservoir
until the air expels water and other
impurities.
