A lamp fail switch is located in the UV controller. If this is tripped an alarm will be activated in the
Orion controller, but the unit will continue to operate.
5.6.2 Option 71 Ultrafiltration
An optional post treatment Ultrafilter (UF71-01, etc) stage can be specified for Orion units where
additional bacteria and endotoxin control is required.
One two or three UF modules (depending on the size of unit) are located in the purified water line on
the outlet of the CEDI module(s). A sanitary sample valve (V71-01) on the inlet of the unit can be
used to determine the effectiveness of bacterial control and an isolating manual diaphragm valve
(V71-02) is also located on the feed line to the UV unit.
The UF operates with a concentrate flow in a similar manner to the RO system, however, since the
feed water to the module(s) is purified water it can run at a much higher recovery (95%) and the
concentrate is returned to TK30-01 for reuse.
Concentrate is manually adjusted to 5% of the product water flow rate using V71-03 and FT71-01.
5.6.3 Option 72 Microfiltration
An optional post treatment Microfilter (F72-01) stage can be specified for Orion units where
additional bacteria control is required.
A sanitary sample valve (V72-01) on the inlet of the unit can be used to determine the effectiveness
of bacterial control and an isolating manual diaphragm valve (V72-02) is also located on the feed line
to the MF unit.
5.7 PRODUCT WATER OUTLET
A sample valve (V80-01) is located in the outlet section and is required when the CEDI option is
chosen.
5.7.1 Option 80 Outlet Conductivity Measurement
If CEDI is present then a conductivity and temperature sensor (AE80-01) is fitted in the product
water line to monitor product water quality before it passes through the isolating valve (V80-02)).
If no CEDI is present then AE45-01 provides the product water quality measurement as there is no
further deionisation following the RO section and AE80-01 is not required.
5.7.2 Option 81,82 & 83 TOC Monitors
Three Total Oxidisable Carbon (TOC) Monitors are available as an option the monitor selected takes
a sample after the final sample valve (V80-01).
An automatic normally closed isolating diaphragm valve (V81-01) is included in this option and is
located on the feed line to the TOC monitor. The TOC monitor is disabled and isolated from the
product line (via V81-01) during HWS and CIP operations and when the Orion is shutdown.
