9.3 CALCULATING CEDI CURRENT
IMPORTANT
To extend the life of the CEDI system set the electrical current at the lowest value which enables the
required water quality to be consistently met.
9.3.1 Current calculation
The DC current set point is dependant on
–
1. Feed water quality.
2. Required product water purity.
3. Flow rate.
To determine the current setting (amps), follow these steps:
I = Flow * FCE * K
Where:
I = Current (amps)
Flow = Product Flow (m
3
/h)
FCE = Feed Conductivity Equivalent, (Measured Conductivity, µS/cm + (CO
2
ppm x 2.66))
K = Constant (0.0924 for LX24 modules and 0.22 for LX10 modules)
Example
(
for 2m3/hr CEDI24 system)
Flow = 2 m3/hr
Feed = 10 µS/cm + 5 ppm CO
2
FCE = 10 + (2.66 * 5) = 23.3
I = (2)*(22.3)* 0.0924
= 4.29amps
Therefore, set the current at 4.3 amps.
Important
If the required product water quality is not being achieved and at the same time the
current set point is not being achieved then the DC voltage setting may need to be changed on the
CEDI Transformer, consult Veolia Water for assistance.
