Encoder Configuration

VBrick 9000 Encoder Admin Guide

DVR Player Support

The Digital Video Recorder (DVR) recording option is necessary because there is a RTMP 
message that tells the DVR application to start recording. The Flash Media Live Encoder 
(FMLE) has separate options for these. These options are set on a per transmitter basis.

RTMP Username

Username for the FMS. Only used when the FMS requires 
authentication. Use any combination of up to 20 alphanumeric and 
special characters (no spaces).

RTMP Password

Password for the FMS. Only used when the FMS requires 
authentication. Use any combination of up to 20 alphanumeric and 
special characters (no spaces).

Field

Description

Transmit Buffer 
Size

256k to 16M. Increasing this buffer size will allow for longer network 
latencies. Use with caution as this will reduce system resources. 
Default = 1M.

RTMP Timecode

Enable|Disable. Default = disable. 

RTMP Timecode 
Frame Interval

1–30 (default = 15). Shown if RTMP Timecode is enabled. Defines 
how often the timecode is sent in relation to the video frame. For 
example 15 means the timecode is sent every 15 video frames.

RTMP DVR 
Autostart

Enable|Disable. Default = disable. If enabled instructs the server to 
enable DVR when the stream starts or restarts. 

RTMP ID

VBrick | FMLE. Default = VBrick.   This setting identifies the type of 
sender to the server and it changes the way RTMP timestamps are 
created. The VBrick setting uses absolute frame capture time for 
RTMP timestamps and it should be used most of the time, including 
when streaming to an Akamai CDN or VBoss. The FMLE setting may 
be required for compatibility with older versions of VBrick’s DME 
and it uses RTMP timestamps that start at zero with the connection to 
the server which may be required for certain applications like 
multicast and DVR on the Adobe Media Server.
