TUTORIAL TWO: VIDEO EDITOR

Recording back to a DV device from the Timeline
MediaStudio Pro allows you to record back to a DV device from the
Timeline. This means that you can export the contents of your Timeline
directly to a tape using the appropriate output device. In this tutorial, we'll
use a DV camcorder.
To record back to a DV device from the Timeline:
1. Click File: Project Settings - Edit to open the Project Options dialog
box.
2. Select the type of compression you’d like to use from the Compression
drop-down list in the AVI tab.
3. Specify the type of data track from the drop-down list under the
General tab. If it’s just a sound track, select the Audio Only option. If
it’s all video, select the Video Only option. If it’s a combination of both,
select the Video and Audio option.
4. Specify the frame type, the frame size, and the display aspect ratio
(whether it be 4:3 or 16:9) in the General tab.
5. Specify the TV standard and the number of overlay tracks in the Video
Editor tab.
The left image represents a video with the Stretch mode set to Stretch while the
image on the right represents a video with the Stretch mode set to Keep aspect ratio.
The video on the left was stretched to fit the screen causing the video to be distorted.
The video on the right is using the correct aspect ratio and therefore it is not distorted.
