8.3
Intermittent maintenance
Intermittent maintenance has to be carried out:
• At the start of the sowing season;
• If the machine is put out of use for a longer period of time
(end of sowing season);
• When the machine is used very intensively during the
sowing season.
• Grease all points of the machine listed in “8.2 Lubri-
cation”.
• Check the metering wheel (fig. 29) for smooth turning.
• Check the marker discs for smooth and play-free turning.
• Check if the PTO shaft telescopes smoothly. A damaged
PTO shaft may cause excessive wear and tear to the
machine and tractor.
• Check all bolts and nuts for tightness. Tighten loose
bolts/nuts by applying the forces listed in the schedule
below.
• Check all clamping constructions on the coulter beam for
tightness.
• Check the coulters for smooth pivoting.
• In case disc coulters are used, check the adjustment of the
scraper (sufficiently clear of the discs and out of the tines’
reach).
• Check for smooth pivoting of the coulter’s (standard
models) return valves.
• Check both the air hoses and hydraulic hoses for bends and
cracks.
• Check V belts for condition and pressure (dismount
protection shield). V belt pressure should be so adjusted
that each belt can be pushed in about 18 mm by applying a
force of 50 N (5 kg) in the centre, between the pulleys (fig.
30).
• Check the six tyres of the POLYLINER front tank (fig. 31)
for correct pression. Minimum tyre pression is 150 kPa
(1,5 bar).
• Check the machine for damage and flaws.
