button marks horizontal line with the total length defined in

Scanner Bits

Scanner Resolution

number of scanner bits required to mark 1 inch marking line.

Pull Length

specifies a discrete wire displacement triggered by the

Pull

button pulls the wire for the specified distance

•

Stop

button

stops the current process.

•

Save

button saves current setting

•

Close

button closes the window.

Calibrate the marker in the following order:

1.

Load the wire

2.

Enter 10000 into Scanner Bits text box

3.

Press the

Scanner

button. The laser marks the straight horizontal line on the wire that

corresponds to the number of bits entered above.

4.

Set pull length to 24in

5.

Press the

Pull

button. The machine pulls the wire for a specified length.

6.

Measure the length of the horizontal mark

7.

Divide the number specified in the step 2 by the measured length and enter it into the
Scanner resolution text box.

8.

Click save

9.

Enter 3 in into calibration length text box

10.

Press calibrate. The marker pulls the wire for a specified length with the pull speed
specified on the parameter screen and calculates the scale factors

11.

Save and close

12.

Run the test wire from the run screen. Check the marking quality. If the marking appears
skewed or otherwise misaligned return to the calibration screen and manually adjust the
scale factors in the Scale Factor override text boxes. Increasing the X factor contracts the
marks while increasing the Y shifts the mark off the center line of the wire towards the
back.

Select Override check box to use manually entered Scale Factors

Press Save and close

15.

Repeat steps 12-14 until acceptable marking is achieved.
