N.  Lamp Module Cooling Fan Removal and Installation 

(1) 

Cooling Fan Removal

. 

(a)  Remove the lamp assembly in accordance with Chapter 5, G. 

CAUTION: 

WHEN PLACING THE LAMP ASSEMBLY IN A VERTICAL POSITION, 

ENSURE THE FRONT WINDOW IS PROTECTED FROM DAMAGE BY 

PLACING THE ASSEMBLY ON A SOFT, NON-SCRATCH SURFACE. 

(b)  Position the lamp assembly and remove the wiring loom cable ties (Figure 73, item 8). 
(c)  Remove the two fan leads (Figure 73, item 5) from the Molex connector (Figure 73, item 9) 

using Molex extractor tool (PN 11-03-0044) taking note of the cable polarity. 

(d)  Withdraw the fan leads through the lamp assembly (Figure 73, item 6). 
(e)  Remove the four countersunk screws (Figure 73, item 2) (109019) from the lamp assembly 

(Figure 73, item 3). 

(f)  Remove the fan assembly (Figure 73, item 1) from the top of the lamp housing sub-assembly.

(2)  Cooling Fan Installation 

NOTE:  The fan assembly comes with the cable cut to length, terminated and 

protected by heatshrink. 

(a)  Apply Loctite 222 to the four countersunk screws (Figure 73, item 2) (109019) and attach the 

fan assembly (Figure 73, item 1) to the lamp housing sub-assembly (Figure 73, item 3). 

Torque the screws to 2.6 ± 0.1 Nm. 

NOTE:  Before fastening the fan assembly to the sub-assembly, ensure that the fan 

cable loom is positioned so it is above the semicircular notch in the sub-

assembly (Figure 73, item 7). If this is not done, the loom may be too short to 

reach the connector. 

(b)  Ensure the fan lead passes first over the top of the first finger guard (Figure 73, item 5) and 

then under the second finger guard. 

NOTE:  Routing the leads in this manner ensures that the leads do not come into 

contact with the fan during operation. 

(c)  Thread the cable loom through the hole in the lamp housing sub-assembly  

(Figure 73, item 6). 

NOTE:  The rubber grommet may have to be removed first to enable the fan loom to 

pass through the fan mounting plate. Refit the grommet.
