J. Setting the STOW and DEPLOY Positions
NOTE: In azimuth, the slow speed zone begins at 18° from the soft stop positions.
NOTE: In elevation, the slow speed zone begins 18° from the soft stop positions.
(1) The STOW and DEPLOY positions are defined and set by the operator. The settings can be
changed within the azimuth and elevation range of movement as required.
(2) In this example the STOW position is to be set to 0° azimuth and -15° elevation while the DEPLOY
position is to be set to -30° azimuth and -40° elevation.
(3) To program the STOW position:
(a) Drive the searchlight to the required STOW position.
(b) Set the STOW position with a “long press” (> 3 seconds) of the STOW switch on the grip
hand controller or hold the filter switch in the ENT position and press the STOW button on the
TCP.
NOTE: Setting of the STOW position is not possible in flight. The system has a
‘weight-on-wheels’ interlock sensor which prevents this operation until the
aircraft is on the ground.
(c) Drive the searchlight to a different position within the free travel area and press the STOW
switch once.
(d) The searchlight will return to the STOW position.
NOTE: If the searchlight does not move, the STOW position has not been correctly
set and the process must be repeated.
(4) To program the DEPLOY position:
(a) Drive the searchlight to the required DEPLOY position.
(b) Set the DEPLOY position with a “long press” (> 3 seconds) of the DEPLOY switch on the grip
hand controller or hold the filter switch in the ENT position and press the DEPLOY button on
the TCP.
(c) Drive the searchlight to a different position within the free travel area and press the DEPLOY
switch once.
(d) The searchlight will return to the DEPLOY position.
NOTE: If the searchlight does not move, the DEPLOY position has not been
correctly set and the process must be repeated.
