G. Lamp Assembly Removal
CAUTION:
BEFORE BEGINNING ANY WORK ON THE SEARCHLIGHT, ENSURE THE LAMP
ASSEMBLY IS IN A HORIZONTAL POSITION. THIS WILL MAKE THE WORK OF
REMOVING THE ASSEMBLY EASIER AND SAFER.
(1) Remove all power from the searchlight system.
(2) Disconnect the power and control connectors (Figure 52) from the dovetail assembly (033053).
Figure 52 - Removal of Lamp Assembly
(3) Remove the four rear retaining screws (Figure 52, item 4) (109666).
(4) Remove the three front retaining screws (Figure 52, item 3) (109666).
CAUTION:
WHEN REMOVING THE LAMP ASSEMBLY TAKE CARE THAT THE
ASSEMBLY DOES NOT GET CAUGHT ON THE LASER POINTER CABLE AT
THE BACK END OF THE REAR CASE.
(5) Rotate the lamp assembly (Figure 52, item2) (032054) counter clockwise approximately 25 mm
(1”) and then pull until the lamp assembly wiring is exposed.
WARNING: VOLTAGES OF UP TO 10,000 VOLTS MAY STILL BE PRESENT.
BEFORE CARRYING OUT ANY FURTHER ACTIONS WITH THE LAMP
ASSEMBLY, ENSURE THERE IS NO RESIDUAL VOLTAGE AT THE LAMP
TERMINALS.
(6) Connect a 10 ohm 10 Watt resistance across the lamp terminals to quickly discharge any
remaining residual voltage in the lamp. Refer to Figure 52.
(7) Test for zero voltage at the terminals with the aid of a multimeter to ensure that any residual
voltage that may have been present has been discharged.
(8) Remove the heatshrink from the two ignitor power cable connectors (Figure 52, item 5).
NOTE: Remove cable ties as required to access the connectors.
(9) Disconnect the three Molex connectors that connect to the lamp assembly from the gimbal arm
(Figure 52, item 5).
NOTE: The laser pointer connector does not need to be disconnected for this operation
but disconnection is recommended to avoid damage to the connector during
work.
