The hard disk drive does not respond
As a system requirement, internal hard disk drives are not started at power up. Problems
may arise if a third-party SCSI controller fails to send a start unit command during the
SCSI ROM boot. Change any SCSI BIOS defaults to start all hard disk drives during its
ROM load.
For more information on configuring the SCSI BIOS, refer to the RAID controller’s user
guide.
The FDD indicator does not light
Probable causes are that the floppy disk drive signal cable is not properly connected, or
that the floppy disk drive itself is malfunctioning. Check the signal cable connections. If
this does not remedy the problem, refer to
Remedy when Windows 2000 is Unusable
on
page 252.
An error is displayed during POST operation, or POST stops
midway
Probable causes are a malfunction of the system board, CPU, memory or keyboard, or
that the BIOS setup is incompatible. Execute the following procedure to isolate the
problem, then if Windows 2000 can be used, proceed to
Remedy when Windows 2000 is
Usable
on page 252.
If Windows 2000 cannot be used, proceed to
