ECO II FEEDING
2.4.3 Feed Weighing Process
The feed weighing process differs depending on the way feed is delivered to the drops:
a)
Ad Lib Feed Distribution
b)
Cycled Feed Distribution
c)
Continuous Feed distribution
•
a) Ad Lib Feed Distribution
Definition:
Each time a feed cycle starts, the controller fills up every empty
drop associated with the ongoing cycle. A drop is considered as being empty
when no feed is detected by its proximity sensor(s). The Ad Lib distribution
mode is only available if no blend curves are used (see section 6.3).
Principle of operation:
1. When a feed cycle starts, the controller sends feed to the first empty
drop. It delivers the drop's maximum feed capacity (as defined in section
5.8). If feed blends are used, ingredients are weighed according to their
proportion of the blend, starting with the one that has the most impor-
tant proportion. This makes the blend more uniform when the feed is
dumped into the loop.
2. The controller waits for the interbatch delay.
3. If the drop’s maximum proximity switch does not detect feed after the
interbatch delay has elapsed, the controller sends another batch (step 1)
and waits for the interbach delay once again (step 2). This process is
repeated up until the maximum proximity switch detects feed, meaning
the drop is now full. The controller then starts filling the empty drop that
follows.
•
b) Cycled Feed Distribution
Definition:
Each time a feed cycle starts, the drops associated with the ongoing
cycle receive a specific feed dosage. Refer to section 6.1.2.2 to specify
dosages if blend curve are used or refer to section 6.3 to specify dosages if
blend curves are not used.
Principle of operation:
The controller evenly splits the daily dosage between
today’s feed cycles. Make sure the amount of feed that is sent during a cycle
does not exceed the drop’s capacity. Every time a feed cycle starts, this
amount of feed is sent to the drop.
