ECO II FEEDING rev.06
ECO II FEEDING
6.1.2 Blend Curves
6.1.2.1
Principle of Operation
Blend curves allow changing the feeding settings over time as the animals grow up.
Up to four blend curves can be defined; they can be set separately for males and
females for instance.
• Automatic adjustment of the feeding cycles:
The blend curve allows adding new feed cycles as animals are getting bigger. In this
case, the user specifies which feed cycles are used for each point of the curve. The
feed cycles of a curve point keeps being performed up until the following point is
reached. Refer to section 5.3 to enable this option (Active feed cycles in curve).
• Automatic ingredient selection:
- With feed blends:
The curve allows modifying the
composition of feed blends over
time. In this case, a feed blend is
defined for each point of the curve.
The proportion of all ingredients
gradually changes in a linear fash-
ion between consecutive points of
the curve.
- Without feed blends:
If no blends are used, a single in-
gredient is defined for each point
of the curve. The ingredient asso-
ciated with a curve point keeps
being used up until the following
curve point is reached.
• Automatic dosage selection:
The curve allows increasing the
feed dosage over time. In this case,
a dosage is specified for each point
of the curve. The dosage then
changes every day in a linear fash-
ion between consecutive points of
the curve.

ECO II FEEDING
• Number of feed cycle(s)
Select the largest number of feed cycles that can be performed in a day.
Adjustable from 1 to 6 cycles.
* Available if the “Continuous Feeding” option is disabled above.
• Active feed cycles in curves ?
Select “Yes” to enable feed cycles separately for each point of the curve;
select “No” to use steady feed cycles.
* Available if the “Continuous Feeding” option is disabled and if blend curves are enabled above.
• Number of Clocks
Select the number of clock outputs. Adjustable from 0 to 8 outputs.
• Use Mixer:
Select "Yes" if a mixing device is used to mix the blend ingredients.
* Available if blends are enabled above.
• Mix during delivery?
Select “Yes” to let the mixer run during feed delivery in order to facilitate feed
evacuation. If this option is enabled, the mixer will stop running when the
receiving hopper gets empty, and after the receiving hopper empty delay has
elapsed.
* Available if the mixer is enabled above.
• Enter actual weights ?
Select “Yes” to permit automatic changes in the feed dosage based on the
actual animal weight. When this function is used, a theoretical animal weight
is associated with each point of the blend curve. Whenever the actual animal
weight differs from this theoretical weight, the controller moves backward or
forward on the dosage curve to compensate for the weight difference. Refer to
section 6.1.2 for further information.
* Available if a blend curve is enabled above.
• Max compensation
Allowable number of days the controller can move within the dosage curve.
Refer to section 6.1.2 for further information.
* Available if the actual weight function is enabled above.
• Weight units
Select the weight measurement units: kilograms (kg) or pounds (lbs).
• Time of reset
The time of reset should normally be set to 11h59PM. It represents the time at
which the animal age is increased by 1 day; weighing values are being trans-
ferred in the histories at that time as well. Make sure the reset is performed
once all feed cycles have been completed.
