Boom Length/Angle Detector

3. Remove gear and spring, and remove

potentiometer from bracket.

4. Remove connector and cord lock on the end of

cord. Allow drum to slowly wind cord until the
spiral spring does not effect any force.

2.5 Reassembling of potentiometer

[NOTICE]

In order not to expose the potentiometer to

unnecessary heat, solder the potentiometer
terminals and leads as quickly as possible.

Fix the potentiometer terminals including leads to

the bracket by insulating sealant.

Recommended sealant: Shin-etsu Silicone
KE45RTV made by Shin-etsu Chemical industries

1. Install a new potentiometer.

2. Loosen setscrews of gear on the shaft of speed

reducer and gear on potentiometer shaft to allow
both gears to rotate freely.
Rotate gear on potentiometer shaft about 1/4 turn
by hand, and confirm that gear is returned to its

original position by spring. If not, loosen bolts and
adjust the position of bracket.

3. Fix gear on the shaft of speed reducer with

setscrew that is screwed on the flat surface of
shaft after screw locking agent is applied.

Tightening torque: 118 N•cm{12kgf•cm}

4. From here on, perform the reassembly procedure

from step 12 on in the above cord assembly
instructions.

2.6 Replacing boom angle detector

Remove the leads to the boom angle detector

from the pin terminals, and replace the boom
angle detector assembly.

3. Adjustment

1. With the boom fully retracted, adjust the cord lock

so that the zero marker of the cord is located on
the edge of the cord guide.

2. Adjust the boom length display of the AML.

(Refer to the service manual for the AML.)
