Note:
This chapter covers, in greater detail, the information outlined in
the Spectra RXT-150 Quick Installation poster that was shipped
with your RXT-150.
Preparing for Configuration
Before you configure the RXT-150:
• Determine if you will use a static IP address or DHCP. For the static method, have
on hand the address to assign to the RXT-150.
• Identify the SCSI ID, unique to the bus, to assign to the RXT-150. Note that the
RXT-150 arrives with the default SCSI ID of 15.
• Have on hand the SCSI cables you’ll use to connect the RXT-150 to the host.
Note:
The RXT-150 requires IBM’s LTO driver to run in a Windows
environment. Be sure to download this driver from
www.spectralogic.com/rxt/download before installing the RXT-
150.
Also note:
•
Maximum block size with v5 drivers is 64KB
•
Maximum block size with v6 drivers is 256KB
Caution:
Proper grounding is essential for correct operation of the RXT-
150 with its associated host adapter cards. The RXT-150 and any
equipment cabled to it must share the same earth-ground
voltage. Damage may result if these ground lines are not at the
same voltage.
