Excluding license keys from editing
You can exclude the license keys from editing as follows:
● Transfer all license keys to another storage medium, for example license key USB stick/
license key diskette.
● Transfer all license keys to a partition that is not defragmented, for example the security
partition.
5.8.9 WinCC/DataMonitor
The SIMATIC WinCC/DataMonitor provides WinCC process data to all functional levels of a
company via intranet/Internet with standard tools.
Current process states and historical data are displayed and evaluated with powerful tools.
The production can then be efficiently monitored and analyzed. Information prepared and
presented in the form of Web pages and reports can be prepared and made available for
specific target groups. The DataMonitor client, an office PC for example, accesses the data
on the DataMonitor server, which is installed on a WinCC server, for example.
WinCC/DataMonitor includes the following functions and analysis tools that can be optionally
used depending on application:
● The "Process screens" function is used purely for monitoring and navigation via WinCC
process pictures with MS Internet Explorer as a so-called "view-only client". The
DataMonitor here uses at the server end the same mechanisms as WinCC Web Navigator,
for example, for communication, user management and display of graphical data.
● The "Web Center" function serves as a central information portal for user-specific views.
On a Web Center page, the user can assemble and save the displayed objects of the
DataMonitor, the so-called Web parts, as screen views. In addition, the user manages
access to the DataMonitor and process data in the "Web Center".
● The "Trends and Alarms" function is used to display and analyze historical data from the
WinCC Runtime / Central Archive Server or from the WinCC long-term archive servers.
The data is displayed in predefined Web pages in tables and charts. The user only needs
to link the tables and charts with the desired WinCC archive data. The data created in this
way can be exported to a CSV file for further processing.
● The "Excel Workbooks" function is a reporting tool that integrates messages, archive data
and current process values from WinCC in MS Excel and thereby provides supports for
online analysis.
The created Excel workbooks can be published and then be made available on the intranet/
Internet. Excel workbooks can be published as templates for the "Reports" function to create
reports with WinCC data.
● Using the "Reports" function, users can trigger the time-driven or event-driven reports. The
reports can be generated from WinCC print jobs, or from published Excel workbooks. This
makes available statistics and analysis of specific process data or historical data, for
example. The reports are stored in PDF format and can be forwarded by e-mail, if desired.
