Fault – Cause – Remedy
Carina displays alarm messages in hierarchical
order in the alarm line on the screen.
If two faults are detected at the same time, the more
critical fault is displayed.
The priority of alarm messages is indicated by dif-
ferent background colours and with exclamation
marks after the message:
The table lists the messages in alphabetical order.
The table is designed to provide assistance in the
event of an alarm for locating the cause and reme-
dying it quickly. The various causes and remedies
should be worked through in the order listed until
the problem has been remedied.
Red !!! = Alarm High-priority alarm message
Yellow !! = Caution Medium-priority alarm message
Yellow ! = Note Low-priority alarm message

Airway pressure high !!! Note: This is only displayed
after the 2nd ventilation stroke.
The excess pressure alarm
can be caused by continuous
coughing. Check condition of patient,
check ventilation pattern, cor-
rect alarm limit if necessary.
Airway pressure low !!! A connection has become
detached in the hose system.
Ventilation not possible! Make sure the hoses, filters
and other components are
secure again.
Apnoea ventilation !!! The device has detected respi-
ratory arrest in SPN-PS or
SPN-CPAP mode and will ven-
tilate under control in VC-SIMV
mode until spontaneous
breathing resumes. Apply controlled ventilation or
extend apnoea alarm time

Auto Reset
(in log book »Auto Reset !!!«) !!! Internal system fault. The device performs a restart.
Ventilation continues. After
3 attempts the device stops
ventilation. Disconnect the
patient from Carina and con-
tinue ventilation immediately
using a different, separate ven-
tilator.
