Cleaning, Disinfection and Sterilisation
Cleaning
z Wipe surfaces with a clean, damp lint-free cloth.
Do not use corrosive detergents.
z Aged or accumulated deposits should not be
scraped off, but should instead be softened with
warm soap solution and then removed.
z Wipe until all deposits are visually removed and
allow to dry completely.
Wipe disinfection
Use preparations from the group of surface disin-
fectants for disinfection. Due to material compatibil-
ity, preparations based on these active ingredients
are suitable:
– aldehydes
– quaternary ammonium compounds.
To avoid the possibility of damage to material, do
not use any disinfectants based on:
– alkylamine-based compounds
– phenol-based compounds
– halogen-releasing compounds
– strong organic acids
– oxygen-releasing compounds.
Disinfectants often contain, besides their main
active agents, additives that can also damage
materials.
z Inquiries should be referred to the supplier or
manufacturer of the disinfectant/cleaning agent.
The disinfectant in sufficient concentrations at the
correct temperature must remain in contact with the
surfaces for a specific period of time to allow pene-
tration of all the microbial cell walls and deactiva-
tion. The concentration, temperature, and exposure
times are different for each disinfectant and the dis-
infectant manufacturer's directions for use must be
followed carefully.
Chemical disinfectants should not be mixed with
each other or with detergents, since this may inac-
tivate their disinfecting properties or create noxious
fumes. Items should be dry to prevent dilution of the
disinfectant.
Wipe disinfection with Virex Tb
This procedure is applicable for Virex Tb. When
using Virex Tb or other disinfectants strictly follow
the disinfectant manufacturer's instructions.
z Clean the surfaces according to the cleaning
instructions.
z Wipe down the surfaces with a clean sponge or
cloth soaked with Virex Tb. Use sufficient disin-
fectant to saturate the surface and remain wet
for 3 minutes (for low level disinfection).
z Remove Virex Tb residues with a second
sponge, cloth or paper towel.
Damp heat disinfection
93 °C/10 minutes; in the cleaning/disinfecting
machine with detergent only!
