Connection panels on the system unit

Connecting the console to the system unit

•

Remove the cover at the rear of the system unit.

• You can now begin cabling work at the system unit connection panel:

Plug the appropriate end of the console connecting cable into the port for the

console on the system unit (into the first SR, SX or SY connector row).

Secure the connector.

Connecting additional terminal devices to the system unit

• Ensure that the power cords of the terminal devices are not connected to the power

supply when connecting cables between the system unit and the terminal devices.

• The device connecting cables must have a slack of approximately 50 cm in order to

avoid tension on the connectors.

Connection by means of standard SS97 or V.24/V.28 interfaces

•

Proceed as follows for all terminals and printers:

Plug the connecting cable into the terminal device as described in the operating

manual for the device.

Plug the free end of the connecting cable into the appropriate SS97 or V.24

socket on the system unit.

Note

97808 graphics terminals must be distributed evenly over the available I/O

processors since they place a considerably higher load on the system unit than

other terminal devices.
