Switching your MX300 on and off
Switching on your MX300
Once you have interconnected the units you can start the system up.
Before switching your system on, make sure that the system unit is at room
temperature, i.e. has been standing at room temperature for at least four hours.
• Switch on all the connected peripheral devices:
Proceed as described in the operating manuals of your peripheral devices
• Switch on your MX300:
Press the
ON
button.
Your MX300 is now started up and automatically checks the type of console.
Automatic identification of the terminal type will only be successful if the terminal is
one of the console types 97801-xxx, VT52, VT100, VT220, VT320 or VT420 or offers
an emulation for these console types. The terminal may only transmit 7-bit control
codes (default for 97801, VT52 and VT100).
If automatic identification is not successful although all the conditions have been
met, a description of how to eliminate the error can be found in the section
'Troubleshooting" starting on page 47.
• On inital startup, read in the authorization floppy disk:

operating system" starting on page 45.
Switching off your MX300
Switch your system off as follows:
• Shut down the operating system:
Enter the
s h u td o w n
command.
You must have root privilege on your system in order to enter this command.
The operating system is shut down and the system unit is switched off.
Refer to the operating system manuals [3] and [5] for detailed information on
operating system commands.
