Setting up the system unit

Put the system unit under or at the side of the table on which the console will
be placed.
Please note the following:
- The power supply connection must be easily accessible (see also the safety
standards on page 3)
- The air inlet at the front of the unit must not be obstructed.
- Warm air must be able to dissipate freely at the rear of the unit. Clearance from the
wall must be at least 10 cm.
- The rear of the system unit must be accessible so that peripherals can be
connected.
- The floppy disk drive and the tape cartridge drive must be freely accessible.
- When setting up the system unit you must ensure that a space of 1.5 m is kept
clear to the left of the unit for maintenance and diagnostic purposes, and for adding
peripherals. If this is not possible, the cables attached should have sufficient slack
so that the system unit can be moved as required.
- The system unit should not be exposed to direct sunlight.
Setting up the monitors
Refer to the operating manual accompanying the monitor for details on how to set up
and connect the cables of the monitor.
Setting up and cabling the 1/2" magnetic tape unit and devices at the
SCSI interface
These devices must be placed in the immediate vicinity of the system unit, since the
length of the connecting cables is restricted.
Connect the cables of the devices as described in the appropriate operating manual.
Ensure that the peripheral devices are operated off the same power distributor as the
system unit.
