Condition Cause Remedy
Oil pressure is too low. (1) Defective power steering oil pump
1. Worn or damaged internal parts.
(2) Defective power steering control valve.
1. Worn, seizure or damaged internal
parts.
(3) damaged at the sealing.
(4) Damaged at the piping and oil leaking.
(5) Defective relief valve.
1. Misadjust relief valve.
2. Defected or damaged relief valve
spring.
3. Damaged relief valve poppet or valve
seat.
(6) Defective piston seal of cylinder
(1) Replace oil pump
(2) Repair or replace control valve
(3) Replace seal
(4) Tighten or replace piping.
(5)-1 Readjust the relief valve
(5)-2 Replace control valve assembly
(5)-3 Replace control valve assembly
(6) Replace the piston seal or cylinder
assembly
Steering wheel too heavy (1) Rack of transmission oil
(2) Mixture or sucked air in the oil
(3) Too low air pressure of front tire.
(4) Too low oil pressure

Worn, seizure or damaged internal parts
of control valve.
(1) Fill the oil.
(2) Discharge air or tighten the piping.
(3) Charge air to the tire.
(4) Refer to above “Oil pressure is too
low”.
(5) Repair or replace control valve.
Hard to return steering wheel (1) Worn, seizure or damaged internal parts
of control valve.
(1) Repair or replace control valve.
Abnormal sound at the power
steering oil circuit. (1) Lack of oil quantity.
(2) Air mixture or suck the air in the piping.
(3) Gear sound by suction resistance.
1. Clogged oil filter.
2. Dented the oil pipe.
(4) Oil temperature is too low.
(1) Fill the oil.
(2) Discharge air or tighten the piping.
(3)-1 Replace oil filter.
(3)-2 Replace oil pipe
(4) Warm up the transmission oil.
Cylinder does not follow up or
free rotate steering wheel. (1) Defective piston seal of cylinder.
(2)
Air is in the cylinder.
(1) Replace the piston seal or cylinder
assembly.
(2) Discharge air in the cylinder.
