Requirements and conditions
Cascade connection
All thermal generators in the Rinnai aiM range are from
modular type, therefore it is possible to create a casccade up
to a maximum of 16 units.
To build a cascade of multiple heat generators is it is
necessary to install the Cascade Module on all boilers.
The OCI Cascade Module must be mounted on the back of
the front panel of each Master boiler, while the connector
must be connected to the corresponding terminal on the PCB
LMS14 (see “Electrical connection” diagram).
By connecting the heat generators in cascade, a specific
menu will be activated from which it is possible to set the
following parameters:

A number is assigned to each heat generator and this
determines the first ignition sequence and which device will
be the Master appliance. In particular, on each device it is
necessary to change the parameter

(boiler address):
this parameter varies from 1 to 16. The boiler to which
the number 1 will be assigned will be defined as Master
appliance, the boilers to which the numbers from 2 to 16 will
be defined as Slave devices.
Once the address has been assigned to each boiler in the
cascade, it is necessary to make the physical connection
with a bipolar cable with a section of at least 0.5 mm2 to be
inserted in theterminal highlighted in the figure.
To make all the boilers communicate with each other, it is It
is necessary to connect the terminals of each one in series
cascade module,according to the diagram shown in the figure:
The rotation of the ignition of the heat generators comes
performed directly by the electronics, after a certain number
of hours of operation of the cascade. When more boilers are
connected to each other in cascade, all messages of error or
diagnostics are shown on the display of the Master boiler.
The probe must be connected to the Master heat generator
placed on the flow manifold and any external probe, in order
to regulate the ignition sequence of the boilers and optimize
the functioning of the system.
