6 Trouble Shooting
To ensure the measurements are performed under valid and consistent conditions, the
the Rigel 62353 Plus is programmed with the ability to perform a number of self checks
and test setup verification checks upon power up and prior to a powered safety test
(leakage test).
The Rigel 62353 Plus will test the incoming mains supply as follows:
L-N polarity of incoming mains (UK and polarised mains versions only)
o
Test may continue
Integrity of the incoming earth (TN supply) (see application note 0002)
o
Test may continue
Check for over voltage on Live and Neutral wire
o
Test cannot continue
Example of IT warning (incoming earth fault);
In addition, the Rigel 62353 Plus is able to check for a valid test setup for
measurements done using the direct method. In case a secondary earth path is
detected, the Rigel 62353 Plus will warn the user. It is
not possible to continue
as
testing under such conditions will always result in a “zero” reading due to the low Ohm
resistance of the secondary earth path in comparison to the 1000 Ohm resistance of
the body model used in the Rigel 62353 Plus.
