Reroute Priority
If a link between two LINK-Cards is interrupted, the system will switch to a redundant link, if the system is set
to production mode, to guarantee a signal transport from the source to the destination. A loss of a fiber link
means also a loss of bandwidth. If there is not enough bandwidth to switch the signal transport to an
alternative route, the need of a priority list is required. In this list is defined, which channels are important to
route and which are minor and can be dropped. The rating is divided in 4 classes. The least important
classification is
off. That means the signal has no priority and won’t be re-routed in case of fiber loss. The
higher the re-route priority (1...3) the more important is the signal. Hence a signal with the priority 3 is
handled preferred as a signal with the priority 1.
Existing uninterrupted links won't be aborted, independent of the priority list. I.e. an existing link without
reroute priority (
off ) won't be aborted by an interrupted link with reroute priority 3.
The classification can be defined by a right-click on the respective destination Channel. Select the desired
value in the option
Set Reroute Priority to in the context menu. This is possible in the DEVICE BROWSER and in
the CONNECTION-window, as well as in the MATRIX.
Figure 148: Re-routing Priority
The respective priority number is displayed in an icon with cyan background next to signal-format icon.
The automated Re-routing is
only
enabled if Reroute Priorities are configured
and
if the system is
in PRODUCTION Mode.
