INTERFACE OVERVIEW
This chapter discusses interface elements as they pertain to drive functions. Three
interfaces are offered. Depending upon the model selected the Quantum LTO drives
interface to either the Small Computer System Interface (SCSI) bus, or the Serial
Attached SSCI (SAS) bus, or the Fibre Channel bus.

2.1.1
Interface and Command Standards
In addition to the information presented in this manual the applicable standards
should be reviewed before writing host software drivers. In addition, review the
conformance statements, which are given in the Product Description Manual for
each model.
The drives comply with the appropriate interface level standards. The SAS interface
drives conform to Serial Attached SCSI interface standards. The SCSI interface
drives conform to SCSI interface standards, and the Fibre Channel drive conforms
to Fibre Channel interface standards. In addition to the applicable interface
standards the drives comply with SCSI-3 command standards. In a few cases,
vendor unique features are available. These features are compatible with the SCSI
standards.
2.1.2
Cabling and Connectors
The cabling requirements and interface connector pin assignments of the internal
drive models are given in the respective installation guide for each model of LTO
drive.
