Glossary

IBM-Compatible Computer

Also known simply as a PC, an IBM-compatible computer is a computer based on
the x86 or Pentium™ processor. IBM-compatible computers are manufactured by
IBM™, Compaq™, Hewlett-Packard™, Digital™, or many other companies, but
not Apple Computer, Inc.

LCD

The liquid crystal display (LCD) window on the printer’s front panel displays
information about the printer’s status. Refer to “LCD Messages” on page 151 for a
description of LCD messages.

LED

A light emitting diode (LED) is a small light that indicates the printer’s status.
Refer to “Status Indicator LEDs” on page 149 for a description of LED indicators.

LocalTalk

See “AppleTalk” on page 162.

Logic Board

Most electronic devices, such as computers and printers, have a logic board that
contains the device’s main electronic circuitry. To add memory to your printer, you
will need to remove the Colorscript 310/330 printer’s logic board and add RAM
SIMMs to the SIMM slots on the logic board.

Macintosh Computer

Also known simply as a Mac, most Macintosh computers are manufactured by
Apple Computer, Inc. Although Macintosh

®

is a registered trademark of Apple

Computer, Inc., several companies now manufacture “Macintosh clone” computers
that run the Macintosh Operating System. Macintosh clone computer users should
follow the instructions for Macintosh computers throughout this manual.

Media

Both dye sublimation transfer paper and transparency film are usable media for the
Colorscript 310/330 printer. Because the Colorscript 310/330 printer can print to
both paper and transparency film, the term media is used throughout this manual to
mean either paper or transparency film.

Network Zone

Zones are divisions of a network that are used to organize the network or make the
network more efficient.
